Take your Thanksgiving game to the next level with this Vintage Royal Staffordshire American Legend Dessert/Pie Plate, made in England by J & G Meakin. Crafted of Ironstone, these beautiful dishes depict a variety of iconic scenes from American history.
At the center of this dessert plate a scene from the Signing of the Declaration of Independence shows John Hancock writing his legendary magnified signature, while other founding men and women look on. Three medallions bearing a coat of arms symbol adorn the rim: an eagle in front of colonial flags with an olive branch in one foot and sheath of arrows in the other. In the foreground a shield with stripes. Rustic wilderness scenes of mountains, lakes and deer trim the edges of the plate. Beautiful trim of molded flourishes separate the center scene from the rim, which is a lovely scalloped shape.
Measures 7” round and sold as open stock (individually). Beautiful vintage condition with no chips, cracks, utensil marks or scratches. Some crazing and color aging are present due to the the age of the piece.
